Next to the chestnut mare, the hickory camel, the charcoal bear,
Decked in orange bangles, blue ribbons, and gold-laced red braids.
The children of the Hunan handlers hold the reins,
Please stand next to the painted stand to mount
Their tired horse, fat camel, and nervous bear
Huff and snort. They want to be on their own.
They’d rather be home, in the wilderness or outer space
